Canon CLI-8 cartridges come in black, yellow, magenta and cyan varieties. Each of these cartridges can be refilled with ink when they become low. When a CLI-8 ink cartridge is refilled, the chip on the cartridge should be adjusted to what the printer does not treat the cartridge as empty. Reset cartridge sales changes in the chip back to the beginning like a brand new cartridge.

Canon chip resetter
1 Slide the cartridge CLI-8 in the guide close to the Canon chip resetter with the metal leads on the cartridge first.
2 Press the cartridge down to the chip in the cartridge in contact with the plate in the resetter. The red LED light flashes if the contact is established.
3 Hold the cartridge in the resetter place until the red LED of two to three seconds continuously. This indicates that the chip has been reset.
4 Remove the cartridge from the Canon chip resetter.
